Progression

This has become fascinating for me. Gross, occasionally painful, somewhat inconvenient, but also fascinating.

Hematoma, fourth morning after crash:

It's growing and changing like something out of a sci-fi movie, and I can't help but wonder if it's planning to take over my entire leg.

  3. Ema-- I crashed my bicycle over the weekend (see this post- http://kalidurga.blogspot.com/2009/05/eating-gravel-on-c-canal.html). Pretty, isn't it? ;)

  4. Oooo....read your crash story. Sorry to hear about the nasty spill, but at least you now get to watch the color spectacle that is your bruise. Wait till it gets to that great yellowish stage - totally gross but as you say, fascinating! ;) (PS - this is not sarcasm...I love watching my bruises change color! It may be time for me to get a life...)

  5. I agree, it is fascinating to watch. Once you get past the discomfort, it's very interesting to see what the body does as it heals. As of this morning, there's a faint yellowish mass that's growing as the red/purple recedes down my leg. It's also interesting that the darkest of the purple seems to have settled along the back of my leg-- which makes sense considering I sit at a desk all day at work.

I would've also posted pics of my stitches, but it was tricky to shoot my elbow one-handed.

    :D

  6. OWWW! Geeze, that hurts just to look at it. I hope it stops speading soon.

(It is a pretty color, though. Sorry; maybe that's a bit too macabre a thing to say.)

These bruises tell just how bad a spill you took, KD. Glad you were able to walk away from it.

    :)

  7. Martha, don't ever feel you have to apologize for macabre comments at my blog. In fact, the more the merrier!

Thanks for the well wishes, I'm also glad I was able to walk away. It was a comparatively minor crash (would've been worse if I'd been playing in traffic), but just bad enough to provide me with a slight limp and some interesting anecdotes for a week or so ;)

And I hope that you're doing well!

  10. So what clour is it now?

  11. Hehe... Over the past week, all of the red/purple at the top of the leg gradually faded, so there was a big colorless gap between the actual site of the bruise and the blood pooled below it. All of the color is almost completely gone at this point, but there's now a hard lump under the skin at the "point of impact". I'd love to know what that's composed of.

    Thanks for asking ;)
